research

Read about each artist you are considering. How long have they been practicing permanent makeup? Why are they in the industry? Do they continue their education and work to improve their technique?

Procedure Pictures

Carefully examine enough pictures of the artist’s work. When comparing different artists’ pictures, look carefully at small, but key details such as realistic hair strokes on eyebrows and accurate colors on eyeliner and lip color.

It’s also important to look at pictures of people who received the same type of permanent makeup you are considering and have a skin type that is like yours.

Make sure that the pictures you are viewing are of the artist’s actual clients and not stock images or pictures taken from another artist’s website or Facebook page. Watermarked images make this easier.

Client References

References can be very helpful in getting an idea of what to expect from an artist and can often be the deciding factor in your decision.

Ask questions such as: Did you feel comfortable throughout the procedure? Did the artist take their time to achieve the best result for your condition? Are you happy with your eyebrows, eyeliner, lips, etc.?

Whether they chose permanent makeup because they simply wanted to wake up with makeup and never bother with removing it every night or they were going through some form of hair loss such as Alopecia or chemotherapy. Remember, many people have been in your situation and are usually happy to share their experiences.

Listening to those willing to share experiences will help you to make the right decision and choose the right permanent makeup artist.
